Expansion Draft: Arizona Coyotes
Another young team that does not have an abundant amount of talented players which made their available players list to be one of the weaker teams in this year’s expansion draft. The best player available is Shane Doan but given his age and being an unrestricted free agent, his veteran presence is not worth the price tag he will require to be signed by Vegas. That leaves Alex Burmistrov and Louis Domingue as the two most likely players for Vegas to swoop in and select. Burmistrov fits the criteria of the Golden Knights desired players, 25 years old who has experience in the NHL since being an 8th overall selection in 2011 and time in the KHL when he took a break from the NHL. Showcased moments of being a fortified NHL player this year with Arizona and Winnipeg but will require a new deal when/if he signs with Vegas. Louis Domingue was called upon this past season to fill in for an injured Mike Smith and given the team in front of him, fulfilled his duty as a backup goaltender. He has one more year on his contract at just a shade over $1 million and has a sub 3.00 GAA and a .910 save percentage in his NHL career as a 25 year old. This might seem as a bold prediction but I think Domingue will be taken with the intention for Vegas to take advantage of Oscar Lindberg or Jesper Fast in New York who is a more valued asset than Burmistrov, Domngue is a long ways away from being a starter in this league but can serve as a low end backup in this league.
Coaster’s Pick: Louis Domingue
