Expansion Draft: Ottawa Senators
It hurts to me to the core to right down Meth’s name, because I truly respect the impact he has in the defensive zone and his rugged style of play. He’s simply too good of an asset for Vegas to pass up on. Whether they keep him or trade him, Marc Methot is the best available piece. If Vegas feels as though Methot and his $4.9 million cap hit is too rich for them, it’ll likely come down to defensemen Chris Wideman and Fredrik Claesson. They had contrasting seasons as Wideman played all 82 games in Ottawa only to be healthy scratched at various times throughout the playoffs. Claesson started his season in Binghamton, but bursted onto the scene near the end of the season playing 33 games for the Sens and taking a regular shift with Erik Karlsson in the Eastern Conference Finals. Both make under $800,000 next year.
Ler’s Pick: Marc Methot
