Expansion Draft: Winnipeg Jets
The Jets are another team who have a great looking future which forced them into leaving some young players available as well as an top 4 defenceman who can be put in the lineup day in and day out. Toby Enstrom is a proven top 4 defenceman who is capable of playing powerplay minutes and given his size plays a relatively good defence game. He also has had 3 seasons with above 30 points including in 2011 attaining 51 points. With his cap hit on the one year he has left on his contract coming in at $5.75 million, I think given the wide selection of defence they will stay away from Toby and select Marko Dano. The Slovak turns 23 this year and is capable of coming in as a top 6 forward if needed but can easily settle into a 3rd line role. Only 3 seasons under his belt, he displayed in 2015 that given the time and opportunity he can produce, tallying 21 points in 35 games. Dano is a young talent at the center position that Vegas would love to have and has potential to be a long term player for the Golden Knights.
Coaster’s Pick: Marko Dano
